《再生缘》是清代弹词的代表作,对当时及后世均产生重大的影响,和《红楼梦》并称,有"南缘北梦"之说。主人公孟丽君是文学史上与众不同、光彩夺目的人物,她在从闺阁小姐到位极人臣的过程中,女性意识逐渐觉醒。孟丽君要求夫妻平等,反对男尊女卑,不认父母,不认丈夫等一系列女性意识觉醒的表现是她觉醒的极致。孟丽君的形象既复杂又独特,其背后有着社会环境、经济地位、个人性格等复杂的原因。只有理解孟丽君女性意识的超时代性,才能更全面地理解孟丽君这个人物形象。同时,我们也需要注意孟丽君女性意识的觉醒是有局限的,不自觉的。

Zaishengyuan wrote by Chen Duansheng is one of the most outstanding representative storytelling works in Qing Dynasty.
