A Study of Xixing Manji: From the Translation Perspective

斯诺作品《西行漫记》在中国现代史上地位特殊、重要。它是由中国人翻译的一部译作,是译者和原作者共同造就的不朽之作。从翻译学角度对《西行漫记》进行解读,分析翻译它的历史成因、译本的特点、原作者和翻译赞助人的关系、翻译赞助人和译者的关系,可以加深读者全面、深刻地了解这一经典著作,也是对现有《西行漫记》研究的有益补充。

Xixing Manji, the first full version of the world-famous non-fiction Red Star over China, written by American journalist Edgar Snow, is an important work in the history of modern China and there- fore there are many researches on it. In the present theoretical context, however, there is a need to closely examine this book from the perspective of translation studies. This paper aims to analyze the success of Xixing Manji and highlight the historical contributions made by the original writer, the patronage and the translators. Also, it discusses the translation strategy adopted by the translators and the epoch-making impact of the book.
