The functional gastrointestinal disorders(FGIDs） are the common and high-incidence disease in the digestive system. The overlapped symptoms are frequently seen in FGIDs and the etiology and pathogenesis are unknown.Currently,there is no satisfactory therapeutic scheme in western medicine. In the theoretic guidance of the holistic ideas and syndrome differentiation and treatment,TCM presents the remarkable advantages and features in the treatment of the symptom overlaps of FGIDs. The harmonizing method of TCM is commonly used for the overlapped symptoms of FGIDs,including harmonizing the spleen and stomach,harmonizing the liver and spleen,harmonizing qi and blood,harmonizing Shaoyang and balancing cold,heat,deficiency and excess. The flexible application of harmonizing method achieves the satisfactory therapeutic effects on individual symptom of FGIDs.
