中国传世典籍浩如烟海,是优秀传统文化的载体。中华人民共和国成立后,党和国家对古籍整理出版事业给予了高度重视和巨大支持。古籍小组的成立标志着国家古籍整理出版工作有了全面安排和统一部署。本文总结了中华人民共和国成立以来至新世纪之初古籍整理出版事业的发展历程,肯定了其间取得的成绩,更在对面临形势精准把握的基础上提出新的任务与期许,对当时乃至当下古籍整理出版都具有相当的参考意义。

China has an enormous quantity of classics which embody the fine traditional cul- ture of China. After the founding of the People＇s Republic of China （ PRC）, the Communist Party of China and the Chinese Government have attached great importance to and extended great support for the collation and publishing of ancient books. The setup of the Ancient Book Group marked that an overall arrangement and plan had been put in place for China＇s ancient book collation and publishing. The paper, briefly reviewing the development of ancient book collation and publishing from the founding of the PRC to early 21st Century, acknowledges the achievements gained during this period, and proposes new tasks and expectations, on the basis of accurate understanding of the the current situation.
