Innovation with Modernity——An Analysis of Phelps's Thought of Mass Innovation

大众创新是费尔普斯创新思想的核心和关键。其大众创新思想之所以能独树一帜,其主要原因在于他对创新与现代性内在关系的认知。通过对"现代经济"进行界定,费尔普斯事实上将现代性、创新和现代经济纳入到同一维度之中。他认为现代经济本身就带有现代性的烙印,而创新与现代性从本质上是一致的,二者具有同构性。这一点是费尔普斯对创新理论的突出贡献。然而,他过于强调大众创新以及现代经济的重要性,却忽视了现代性的内在矛盾。此外,对创新的自我封闭问题,费尔普斯也未给予足够的重视,这些构成他大众创新思想的不足。

Mass innovation is the core and key of Phelps＇ s innovative thought. The main reason why mass innovation thought is unique is his cognition of the intrinsic relationship between innovation and modernity. By defining the ＂modern economy＂, Phelps actually incorporates modernity, innovation and modern economy into the same dimension. He believes that the modern economy itself bears the characteristic of modernity. While innovation and modernity which have similar structure are essentially the same. This is Phelps＇ s outstanding contribution to the theory of innovation. However, he overemphasizes the importance of mass innovation and modern economy, but ignores the inherent contradictions of modernity. In addition, Phelps does not attach enough importance to the issue of self closure of innovation, which constitutes the deficiency of his innovative thought.
