This paper explores firstly the relative legislative regulations and judicial reviews on the exceptions and limitations for education in the Indian Copyright Act 1957 via discussing the judgments of＂Delhi University photocopy case＇; and then explains their value disposition and historical origins; finally, it elaborates the reversal of the rule of interpretation of statue on provisos and exceptions as well as theory-embedded judicial reasoning reflected in the judgments of the case, which may be lessons for the Chinese courts to draw from.
