By means of a silent performance, the ＂5.12＂ Wenchuan Earthquake Memorial shows a strong sense of commemorative feature. Based on the non-architectural design strategies, the three dialectical concepts--humanity and naturality, abstractness and territoriality, forgetfulness and memory--are discussed. This prudent dialogue between humans and nature leads silently to the ultimate subject of life and death in architecture, and presents the theme of monumentality.
