摘要
《遐迩贯珍》是由香港马礼逊教育会创办的以文化交流为目的的一份中文期刊,该刊刊载了大量的地学、天文学、生物学、物理学、生理学、医学等自然科学知识,以及西方最新的工艺知识,也曾简要介绍西方教育。《遐迩贯珍》中的科技知识,体现出启蒙性、实用性、系统性的特征。该刊对我国近代新式教育的兴起起到了促进作用。
The Chinese Serial was a Chinese magazine founded by the Morrison Education Society, which aimed at promoting cultural communication. It published lots of articles on natural sciences such as geonomy, astronomy, biology, physics, physiology, medicine and on the newest western technical progress. It also touched upon western education. The knowledge introduced in The Chinese Serial was enlightening, practical and systematic. The Chinese Serial has indeed promoted the rise of new education in modern China.
