New Era: From a New Beginning of History to a New Historic Beginning

习总书记在十九大报告中明确提出:中国特色社会主义进入了新时代,这是攸关中国特色社会主义全局的重大理论判断、理论创新。新时代是以十八大以来所取得的成就为历史的新起点、以建成社会主义现代化强国为新的历史起点的特定历史阶段。新成就催生了新时代,也带来了新矛盾、新问题。在新思想的指导下,中国共产党勇于承担新使命,从而为中国特色社会主义乃至于全人类塑造了新希望。所以在把新时代理解为从历史的新起点到新的历史起点、不断发展变化的历史过程的前提下,新成就、新矛盾、新问题、新思想、新使命、新希望是理解新时代的基本视角。

As General Secretary Xi clearly put forward in the report of the 19th CPC National Congress, socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, which is a major theoretical judgment and theoretical innovation concerning the overall situation of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics. While regarding the achievements since the 18th CPC National Congress as a historic starting point, the new era also emphasizes a particular historic period in which building China into a great modem socialist country is regarded as a new historic begin- ning. New achievements have spawned a new era, resulting in new contradictions and problems. Under the guid- ance of the new ideas, the Communist Party of China is determined to assume the new mission, thus shaping the new hope for Socialism with Chinese Characteristics and even all mankind. Therefore, under the premise of un- derstanding the new era as a constantly evolving historical process from a new beginning of history to a new historical beginning, new achievements, new contradictions, new problems, new ideas, new missions and new hopes are the basic perspectives for understanding the new era.
