Impact of Parental Education Expectations on the Dropout Intentions of Children Left Behind in Rural Areas: an Intermediation Role of Academic Achievement

摘要 探讨农村留守儿童学业成绩在父母教育期望与其辍学意向关系中的中介效应。采用学生自填的父母教育期望、辍学意向百分比和学业成绩等级调查了河南省301名农村留守儿童。结果表明:学业成绩是父母教育期望与农村留守儿童辍学意向之间的中介变量。研究结论为农村留守儿童辍学意向的预防和干预工作提供了重要借鉴。 To explore the mediating effects of the academic performance of rural left-behind children in the relationship between parents' educational expectation and their intention to drop out. 301 rural left-behind children in Henan Province were surveyed using the self-filled educational expectations of parents, the percentage of intention to drop out of school and the level of academic achievement. The results show that academic achievement is the intermediary variable between parents' expectation on education and the intention of dropping out of rural left-behind children. Therefore, the conclusion of the study is of great value to the prevention and intervention of the dropout intention of rural children left behind.
