Various forms of pottery ding-tripods emerged in the areas surrounding Lake Taihu during the late Majiabang Culture. Each form differed significantly with respect to the distribution of times and locations, the creation mechanism, the development process, and, in particular, the connection with the local tradition in which the tripod was in the form offu and used as a cooking ware. Different traditions influenced and correlated with each other. For a time, a number of local traditions and foreign traditions co-existed in this region. To clarify the origins of and relationship between different types of pottery cling-tripod is of great significance for identifying their impacts and even for explaining the formation of the prehistoric pottery ding-tripods traditions of Lake Taihu areas.
