英汉动物习语的翻译方法研究

On the Translation Methods of English Animal Idioms

动物习语是指包括动物名字在内的习语,是人们在长期的使用中所形成的言简意赅、形象生动的固定短语或短句。英语和汉语各自具有独特的文化特征,如何将英语习语中的动物喻意形象地展示给汉语读者,是英汉动物习语翻译的一大难题。本文结合生动形象的例子阐释了英汉动物习语的五种翻译方法:直译、套译、意译、加注和直译加意译,希望对动物习语的翻译工作略有帮助。

Animal idioms refer to the idioms including the names of animals,which are short-cut,vivid fixed phrases or short sentences formed by people in the long-term use. English and Chinese have their own unique cultural characteristics. Therefore,how to present the animal metaphorically to the Chinese readers is a major challenge. This article illustrates the five translation methods of animal idioms with vivid examples： literal translation,corresponding translation,free translation,annotation translation and combination of literal and free translation,which will be helpful to the idiom translator.
