The Australian Government Guarantee Scheme for Large Deposits and Wholesale Funding was introduced during the global financial crisis in response to similar measures taken in other countries, which had imposed adverse competitive effects on Australian financial institutions, and to address extreme funding pressures facing depositary institutions. The scheme has been successful in promoting financial stability and directing bank credits to the real economy durina a period of extreme alobal fundincl pressure. The article reviews the scheme and analyzes the enlightenment to China.
