Threshold Effect of Educational Investment on Regional Technological Innovation

摘要 教育是技术创新的基础,教育经费投入是影响区域技术创新的重要因素。本文基于2006-2016年中国29个省(市、自治区)的面板数据,运用门槛模型分析教育经费投入对区域技术创新的影响效应。结果显示:中国各地区教育经费投入对区域技术创新的影响存在门槛效应;在不同的经济发展水平上,教育经费投入与区域技术创新呈U型关系,即当经济发展水平较低时,教育经费投入对区域技术创新呈抑制作用;当经济发展水平较高时,教育经费投入对区域技术创新呈促进作用;分区域来看,我国东中西部教育经费投入对技术创新的影响也呈U型。 Education is the foundation of technological innovation, and investment in education is an important factor that affects theregional technological innovation. Hence, this paper adopts the threshold model to analyzes the effect of educational investment on the regional technological innovation through the panel data in 29 provincesof China from 2006 to 2016. The results show that there isthreshold effect of the educational investment on the regional technological innovation among the different regions in China. Furthermore, in the different level of economic development, the relationship between educational investment and regional technological innovation presents a U shape. That is, when the level of economic development is low, the educational investment restrainsthe regional technological innovation, whereas, when the level of economic development is relatively high, the educational investment promotesthe regional technological innovation. Finally, from the perspective of district, the impact of educational investment on technological innovation in Eastern, Central and Western China is also a U shape.
