Based on the bronze inscriptions on the gui vessel of Lord Wu of the Yi state, the Yi state during the early Zhou dynasty should be located within the eastern zone. As for the eastern zone after Kings Cheng and Kang, its western border should be around Anyang and Luoyang, while its southern border should be by no means beyond the Huai River valley. Therefore,it is probable that the location of the Yi state should be centering the Wen and Zi River valleys in the eastern zone. Moreover, taking into consideration the location of the oracle-bone inscription yi,the Yi state should be located around today's Laiwu in Shandong, which is the "place of Lord Yi"according to bronze inscriptions on the shuyong tripod of late Shang dynasty. The Lord-Wu gui bronze ware of the Yi state was indeed a ritual vessel of the eastern zone, which was irrelevant to the founding of the Wu state in the Western Zhou dynasty.
