This paper introduces the process of developing author guidelines for writing social work qualitative research manuscripts for the Journal of the Society for Social Work and Research. The guidelines provide a framework for writing a rigorous qualitative study, along with the recommended detailed information for each session. However, the guidelines are not as a prescribed checklist,but as benchmarks or touchstones to help readers get sufficient information to fully understand qualitative research procedures. We also acknowledge that qualitative research is diverse and guidelines could be applied differentially,and therefore,authors can adjust the guidelines based on their specific topics and qualitative methodologies.
