Objective To explore the clinical value of procalcitonin(PCT) and C reactive protein(CRP) detection in children with acute respiratory tract infection. Methods 80 cases of children with acute respiratory tract infection admitted to our hospital from April 2017 to December 2017 were selected and randomly selected and divided into viral infection group(40 cases) and bacterial infection group(40 cases) according to the diagnostic results. Another 40 healthy children with physical examination at the same time were selected as the control group. The serum PCT and CRP levels of three groups were detected and analyzed. Results The positive rates of CRP, PCT and CRP combined with PCT of the viral infection group were lower than those of the bacterial infection group(P 〈0.05). Before treatment, the serum CRP and PCT levels of the bacterial infection group were higher than those of the viral infection group and control group(P 〈0.05). After treatment, no statistical difference was found in the serum PCT and CRP levels between the bacterial infection group and viral infection group(P 〉0.05). Conclusions PCT and CRP can be used for the clinical diagnosis of children with acute respiratory tract infection, and can be used to distinguish the viral infection and bacterial infection, which is beneficial to early diagnosis of respiratory infection. The combined detection of CRP and PCT has higher clinical value.
