基于衔接理论的“破折号”翻译策略——以《科学美国人》为例

遇破折号时,译者常以照搬翻译方式以达忠实,混淆了破折号在文本中的功能,忽视了破折号在译入语中的使用频率。因此,译文常出现逻辑混乱,原文起结构衔接作用的破折号在译文中反而引起语义断层,最终造成行文生硬。基于语篇衔接理论,本文以《科学美国人》为语料,针对破折号翻译,从破折号隐含的六种逻辑关系入手,尝试以逻辑连词添加与断句重组的方式提高译文的语义衔接。

When encountering dash in translation,the translator naturally copies dash in the target text in term of faithfulness.However,the very function of dash in source text,as well as the frequency of use is neglected. Hence,logical fuzziness occurs,with the cohesion achieved by dash in the source language breaks in the target language. As a result,the translation will be incohesive and unreadable. With the case study of Science American,this paper,aiming at addressing the translation problems of dash,and starting with six logical relations hidden in the dash,attempts to modify the semantic cohesion by adding the conjunctives,along with restructuring of sentences.
