In nature world, the petals of angiosperms have special biological functions. Petals play an important role in the reproductive process of plants, and exist as an interface of many kinds of pollinating insects. Pollinators can land on petals for effective pollination, thus affecting plants' pollination and yields of crops. Arabidopsis thaliana is a model plant, which has petals with simple structure and fewer cell types. It is a fantastic model for studying organ morphogenesis. JAGGED(JAG) is a single-chain C_2H_2 zinc finger motif containing transcription factor that plays an important role in the regulation of plant organ development and polarity growth. This review discussed Arabidopsis JAG transcription factor as an important growth regulator participating in the development and morphogenesis of the petals, and JAG affects petal organs development by regulating the expression of auxin signaling pathways, border specialization and DNA replication related genes. The molecular mechanisms of JAG regulated petal morphogenesis were analysed and discussed based on the current research progesses.
