本土市场规模、市场制度与国家间生产率差异:基于跨国数据的研究

Domestic Market size, Market System and Inter Country Productivity Differences: A Study Based on Transnational Data

Based on the theory of spatial endogenous growth, this paper studies the impact of local market size on productivity by using LS model and national level development data of 56 countries from 1997 to 2013 and using the threshold estimation model. In particular, the night lighting data were used to measure the scale of the home market. The results show that there is a nonlinear relationship between the scale of the local market and the productivity, which is because the influence of the scale expansion of the local market on the productivity depends on the maturity of the market system. The completeness of market system affects the effect of domestic market size on the productivity of different countries. At different stages of development, there are significant differences in the role of domestic market size in different countries. In emerging economies, home market size is more efficient for technology efficiency than for technological innovation in developed countries.
