Top Down or Bottom Up? Explore the Detail Design for Urban Public Spaces

本文试图基于对于城市公共领域和精细化设计理念的界定,提出一种"自下而上"的城市设计思路,以对应当下中国城市发展所面临的一些问题。同时也通过几个案例展现了一种基于研究型设计的工作方法,以及多学科介入城市设计过程的必要性。希望通过案例研究所得出的城市公共领域精细化设计的几个方面,能推动城市设计在我国城市化进程中起到积极作用。

According to the definition of urban public space and the concept of detailed design, this essay tries to bring up a concept of ＂bottom up＂ in urban design in order to reflect on certain issues due to the rapid urban development in China.It also reveals a working method based on the research-oriented design through a few case studies, and the necessity of involving multiple disciplines into the process of urban design.It hopes the principles that brought up by these case studies might improve the urban design in the urbanization process in China.
