周自齐作为晚清民国重要的政治人物,在退出政界后进军电影行业,成为我国第一位创办电影公司的政治家。他筹办的孔雀电影公司是我国第一家中外合资的现代化电影公司。周自齐的电影实践和思想对我国早期电影人才、舆论、资金、技术等各方面产生深远影响,是我国早期电影业从萌芽到初兴的重要推动者。

As an important political figure in the late Qing Dynasty and Republic of China,Zhou Ziqi moved into the film industry after leaving politics and became the first statesman to set up a film company in China. His peacock film company was the first Sino-foreign joint film company of China. His practice and ideas had profound influence on the early film talents,public opinions,capitals and technologies,and he was an important promoter of the early film industry in China.
