The Austrian writer Thomas Bernhard created a critically conscious painter image in his novel Frost and reflected the crisis of self-existence and the difficulties faced by human development through the painter's monologues. Through analysis,it can be found that the author's critical consciousness roots were closely related to his adolescent experience. The extreme artistic style of the novel was an external manifestation of introspection on selfplight and human dilemma.
