恶性肿瘤已成为严重威胁人类生命和社会发展的重大公共卫生问题之一。半乳糖凝集素-3(galectin-3)是一种相对分子质量为29 000~35 000的β-半乳糖苷结合蛋白,能够与肿瘤细胞上的碳水化合物结合影响肿瘤生长转移,弄清galectin-3与恶性肿瘤的关系,能为恶性肿瘤的防治提供更多理论依据及新的靶点。

Cancer has become one of the major public health problems that seriously threaten human life and social development. Galectin-3, having a relative molecular mass between 29 000 and 35 000, is a kind of galactose-binding protein which contributes to metastatic niche formation by binding to carbohydrates on cancer cells. Understanding the relationship between galectin-3 and cancer can provide more theoretical basis and new targets for the prevention and treatment of cancer.
