JThis paper is intended to explore the relationship between ＂speed＂ and ＂passion＂ in D. H.Lawrence＇ s novels. In his novels, Lawrence criticizes deeply and strongly the industrialization represented by the coalmine production, thus reveals the ＂ speed＂ of industrial development destroys and alienates nature and human nature; that the keen on ＂ speed＂ makes people desire mechanical ＂ passion＂ and lose the most natural ＂passion＂ in their lives.
