The Types and Characteristics of Movable Cultural Relics of the Xixia Dynasty in Ningxia

西夏是中古时期北方少数民族建立的割据政权之一,与宋、辽、金呈鼎立之态势,创造了独具特色的文化。宁夏境内存在着大量的西夏可移动文物,从文物类别来看,涉及石器、陶器、瓷器、钱币、铁器、铜器、竹木雕、金银器、书法、绘画、织绣、雕塑造像、玺印符牌、碑刻、建筑构件、古籍16个类别,展现了西夏文化的多个方面。这些种类繁多的西夏可移动文物,表现出民族性、宗教性和多元兼容性特征。出现这些共性特征,与西夏奉行的政治、文化、宗教政策相关。

The Xixia Dynasty was one of the separatist regimes established by the minority nationalities existing along with the Song, Liao, and Jin Dynasty in the middle ancient times, which created a unique culture. There are a large number of Xixia movable cultural relics in Ningxia, including sixteen types, such as stone, pottery, porcelain, bronzes, coins, iron, bamboo carving, gold and silver, calligraphy, painting, sculpture,embroidery, statues, sign, seal, building components, and ancient inscriptions, which demonstrated many aspects of the culture of the Xixia Dynasty. These various kinds of movable cultural relics of Xixia symbolizesd ethnic, religious and multiple compatibility characteristics. These common characteristics were related to the political, cultural and religious policies pursued by the Xixia Dynasty.
