《活动变人形》和《陆犯焉识》皆以知识分子为题材,但两者的创作旨趣各有所向。通过《活动变人形》和《陆犯焉识》的并置阅读,可深入探究两部小说在叙事伦理和两性关系上的不同处理方式,从而窥见两位作家的独特价值观念和创作指向。两部作品都蕴含"弑父"思想,但王蒙在反思自我与审视父辈的过程中,不自觉地解构和颠覆着父权,而《陆犯焉识》则通过"弑父"体味20世纪一代知识分子的历史限度;在对两性关系的处理上,王蒙最终指向对男权社会的审判,而严歌苓则超越了男权压制的思维限度,把女性塑造成为拯救知识分子的救赎力量;王蒙旨在呼唤对知识分子身份的重新定位,严歌苓则表达了对知识分子理想人格的寄托。
