从跨文化视角论英汉习语的翻译

Translation of English and Chinese Idioms from Cross-Culture Perspective

英汉习语互译时,不能简单地从单个词语或某些字面意思来获得,必须考虑英汉两种文化之间的差异。为跨越不同文化间的障碍,顺利完成英汉习语的跨文化翻译,阐释了英汉习语反映的文化差异,指出了翻译常犯的错误,并提出了适用的翻译方法,使习语的英汉互译准确、畅通,进一步促进中西方文化交流与融合。

A good translator cannot only obtain the meaning of idioms by single words or the literal meanings,but must consider the differences between the two cultures. It is very difficult and challenging for a translator to achieve mutual translation of English and Chinese idioms from cross-culture. This paper presents the cultural differences reflected by idioms,proposes several appropriate methods and points out the frequent mistakes,aiming to make the mutual translation of idioms between English and Chinese vivid as well as faithful and promote cultural exchange and fusion.
