Professor YU Chenghui has experience in diagnosis and treatment of refractory urinary tract infections. Professor YU has summarized TCM pathogenesis of urinary tract infections as kidney deficiency and bladder damp-heat. Vital Qi deficiency and damp-heat retention are keys to recurrent attacks of refractory urinary tract infections. During treatment, Professor YU has emphasized that TCM syndrome differentiation should be divided into deficiency and excess, the role of eliminating pathogen or supporting vital Qi should be distinguished, and the clinician should pay attention to apply wind herbs, combined with external treatment, and attach importance to value diet and living care at the same time.
