The Dimensions of Translation and Their Impacts on the Evolution of Modern Chinese Poetry

翻译在语言、诗学及意识形态的向度对中国诗歌的流变起了决定性的影响。文章甄别了中西诗学与诗话的渊源与异同,强调了翻译作为语言的诗学功能及文学的互文性特质,阐述了诗歌翻译对中国新诗在主题、语言、结构及文本的重构。文章认为翻译不仅带来了新的抒写方式,创造了新的语言、"新诗"及新的"诗人",同时也重构了中国诗歌的当代诗学意义~①。

Individually or collectively, the linguistic, poetic and ideological dimensions of translation have exerted crucial influences on the way modern Chinese poetry evolves. This paper distinguishes poetics in general from traditional Chinese theory of poetry in particular, focusing on the poetic function translation performs as a specialized language, and the intertextual character it assumes as a specialized literature. And it goes on to draw attention to the pivotal role which translation has been playing in the construction and reconstruction of the theme, language, structure and textuality of what comes to be known as China's New Poetry.
