摘要
提出了一种在光纤包层中引入矩形孔的单模光纤,数值分析了矩形孔对光纤模场特性的影响。理论上采用标量近似,从标量波方程出发,给出了矩形孔光纤的耦合波方程。利用数值方法分析了矩形孔光纤模式的光场分布特性。仿真结果表明:随着纤芯折射率与矩形孔内环境折射率的大小不同,脊型模式的有效折射率会向矩形孔模式或纤芯模式转换。矩形孔光纤可以实现光能量的相互耦合以及模式转换。本结果对进一步分析矩形孔光纤的传输耦合特性以及模式转换特性等提供了必要的理论基础。矩形孔光纤在设计和开发新型模式耦合及转换器件等具有潜在的应用价值。为实现矩形光源与普通单模光纤之间的耦合提供了新方法。
A kind of single mode optical fiber with a rectangular hole was proposed. The influence of the rectangular hole to fiber modes was analyzed by using numerical methods. The coupling wave function was proposed by using scalar approximation and scalar function. The mode field distribution of optical fiber in rectangular hole was analyzed by using numerical method. The simulation results show that the effective indices of ridge modes turn to the modes of rectangular hole or the modes of fiber core according to the different difference between the indices of rectangular hole and fiber core. The optical fiber in rectangular hole can achieve power coupling and mode transform. These results provide the necessary theoretical basis for further analysis of mode coupling and transform of optical fiber in rectangular hole.The optical fiber in rectangular hole has potential application value in aspect of designing and developing novel devices of mode such as coupling,transform,and so on. A novel approach is offered to realize the efficient coupling between the rectangular light and common single mode fiber.
