The Tempest: Desire under magic

人类学家认为魔法是一种自然法则体系,也是自然赋予人类的一种神奇的力量。这种力量因人类的歪曲和误用而成为对自然和他者进行统治的有效工具。米兰的国王普洛斯彼罗就是借助魔法恢复了王权、惩戒篡权者,并通过魔法使其权力神圣化、合法化来维护王权。这场由魔法唤起的《暴风雨》在神性的洗礼中成功地实现了王权欲望的演绎。

According to anthropologists,magic is considered as a system of natural laws and a magic power given to human by nature as well. This power is misused by human as an effective tool to meet their desires. Prospero,King of Milan,is such a person who,by way of magic,reclaims his kingship,punishes conspirators and sticks up for his sacred kingship through empowering and sanctifying his power by way of magic. Thus The Tempest evoked by magic is a successful play of human desires disguised by divinity.
