In May 1940, under the offensive of the west line of the German army, the British and French allied troops took the largestretreat in the history of World War II in Dunkirk, northeastern France. There are many reasons for the successful withdrawal at sea.The process of war in the west line is closely related to the withdrawal and German leaders' order of " stop forward" is decisive for thesuccess. The order was closely related to the German army's strategic consideration of the two lines and military and politicalconsiderations at that time, and had a profound impact on the subsequent war.
