基于图形-背景理论英汉翻译语序调整之认知阐释

On the Cognitive Interpretation of Word Order Adjustment in English-Chinese Translation from the Perspective of Figure-Ground Theory

图形——背景理论反映语言与认知的关系。图形是认知突出的部分和关注的焦点,背景是认知中的背景信息,作为认知参照与图形相对出现。在英文表达中,由于心理原因,图形通常是放在突出的位置,相对应的汉语翻译有时可能遵循英语的语序,而很多情况下,汉语的翻译需要做很大的语序调整,因为在大多数情况下,汉语是将认知的背景置于图形之前描写。本文以图形背景为研究视角,分析探讨英汉翻译过程中,英、汉语言的语序之间的异同和调整,为英、汉翻译中的语序处理提供理论解释。

Figure-ground theory reflects the relationship between language and cognition. Figure is a prominent part of the cognition and the focus of attention,and ground is the background information,appears as a cognitive reference and. In English,because of the psychological reasons,figure is usually placed in a prominent position;corresponding Chinese translation sometimes may follow the English word order,and in many cases,the translation of Chinese need a great word order adjustment,because in most cases,Chinese puts ground in front of the figure for description. Analysis is done in the similarities and differences with regard to the word order of English and Chinese languages in translation in this article,so as to form the basis of the translation.
