The article presents the treatment of 46 casesof hyperthyroidism with acupuncture and that of 33cases of Hashimoto's thyroiditis with moxibustion inorder to in vestigate the characteristics of the effectof acupuncture & moxibustion in the treatment ofthyropathy.The result proved that acupuncture andmoxibustion have fairly favorable regulating effectfor the immune and thyroid functions of patientswith hyperthyroidism and Hashmoto's thyroiditis.Acupuncture and moxibustion exert different effectsaccording to the variousness of patients' syndromesand thyroid functions.For hyperthyroidism,acupun-cture and moxibustion are devoted to lowering thecontent of T4,T3,in the patients;while for hypo-thyroid patients,their content of T4,T3 can beelevated.Acupuncture and moxibustion are not dis-tinctly effective for those with normal thyroid func-tion.
