From late Ch＇ing Dynasty to early Republican China,translators born in Jiangsu made distinct contributions to translating and disseminating western culture and technology. With patriotic and nationalistic attitude,they tried to seek better ways to save nation,improve society and transform people＇s thinking mode. They were diligent in their translation career and expressed their sense of mission to the survival of the nation by translating. By organizing and summarizing the related historical materials on translators born in Jiangsu,the translating events and translations undertaken by some typical translators as well as their contributions are focused on. Then,from the perspective of regional humanistic tradition,the cause is studied in a deep going way.
