THE WTO is an international organization whose primary purpose is to open trade for the beneft of all. It seeks to fulfll this objective through an institutional and legal framework that favors the seeking of negotiated solutions to serve diverse com-mercial interests of its member countries and, in case of non-compliance with WTO rules, provides a dispute settlement mechanism that is the central pillar of the multilateral trading system. Te assumption is that the multilateral trading system of the WTO favors the eco-nomic development of its member countries.
