自贡盐业生产至迟在东汉时期已肇始,两晋南北朝初具规模,唐宋时闻名全川,明清两代进一步发展,自贡地区的富荣盐场成为当时极具规模的工业性开采矿场。有清一代,井盐生产技术在富荣盐场形成了一套完整的工艺,为人类开创了开采地下资源的途径和方法,走在了当时世界的前列,为人类文明的科学进步做出了卓越贡献。

The production of Zigong＇s salt industry has begun in the Eastern Hart Dynasty. Till the two Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties, the salt industry began to take shape. It was famous in the Tang and Song Dynasties and further developed in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The Furong Salt Field in Zigong became a large-scale industrial mining mine. In the Qing Dynasty, the well salt production technology formed a complete set of process in the Furong salt field, which opened up the way and method for exploiting underground resources for human beings. The salt production technology was at the forefront of the world at that time and made outstanding contributions to the scientific progress of human civilization.
