Objective To investigate the clinical significance of fine-needle aspiration specimen Midkine detection in papillary thyroid microcarcinoma. Methods Fine-needle aspiration specimens from 50 patients with papillary thyroid microcarcinoma and 30 patients with thyroid nodular goiter who were admitted to our hospital and underwent surgery from August 2014 to May 2017 were selected as objects. Immunocytochemical expression of Midkine was observed in fine-needle aspiration specimens from above patients. Results Fine-needle aspiration specimen Midkine expression of papillary thyroid microcarcinoma was significantly higher than that of thyroid nodular goiter, and the difference was statistically significant(P〈0.01). The positive rate of Midkine expression in patients with lymph node metastasis of papillary thyroid microcarcinoma was higher than that of patients without lymph node metastasis, and the difference was statistically significant(P〈0.05). Conclusion The detection of fine-needle aspiration specimen Midkine is helpful in the diagnosis of papillary thyroid microcarcinoma and the prediction of lymph node metastasis.
