中国传统文论典籍翻译批评基本标准初探

On Basic Criteria of Translation Criticism of Chinese Traditional Literary Theories Classics

中国传统文论翻译是中国文化典籍外译的一个重要而特殊的方面。中国传统文论翻译批评可采用的基本标准包括两个侧重点。其一,侧重考察在中国文化思想为本位基础上的文论思想传达之连贯性,看译文是否符合原文论的理论思想框架和原文本的基本表述特征;其二,侧重考察译文的文学艺术再现,看译文以旨在构建与异域视野的亲和力为目的的内容添加和言说方式调整,以及由此构建的译文文学形式特征。在批评实践中,若二者出现冲突,则以前者为主。中国传统文论翻译批评模式构建要点包括文本客体研究与主体研究、对原文和译文全部或抽样对比研究、效果评价和价值判断等。

The translation of traditional Chinese literary theory texts constitutes an important and special field of the translation of traditional Chinese cultural classics. The basic criteria for the translation criticism include two main points. First,it focuses on the coherence of literary theory on the basis of Chinese cultural thought,to see if the translation conforms to the theoretical framework of the original text and the basic characteristics of the original text;second,it focuses on the literary and artistic reproduction of the target text,the content addition and the mode of speech adjustment for the purpose of constructing the affinity between the target text and the foreign field of vision,as well as the literary form characteristics of the translation constructed thereby. In the practice of criticism,when conflict occurs between these two sides,the former should prevail. The other concerns the literary artistry,with emphasis on translational addition for better affinity to the other horizon and readjustment of discourse modes aiming to reproduce some original literary features in the translation. The main points of the construction of Chinese traditional literary criticism mode include text object study and subject study,contrast study on the whole or sample of the original text and the translation,effect evaluation and value judgment,etc.
