People-Centered: On the Value Orientation in Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era

习近平在党的十九大报告中明确提出,新时代中国特色社会主义坚持以人民为中心。以人民为中心的价值取向,其理论渊源是马克思主义人民观,党的历代领导人的人民观,中华传统文化"民本"思想的合理内核;其实践基础是应对新时代主要矛盾转变的新要求,汲取国外执政党的经验教训,基于习近平总书记个人丰富的实践经验;其基本架构"六位一体",包含根本论、主体论、宗旨论、方法论、目标论、动力论等,以人民为中心,是习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的重要内容。

In his report to the 19 th CPC National Congress, Xi Jinping stated clearly that socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era will uphold the people-centered principle. This value orientation finds its theoretical origins in the views on people held by Marxism as well as generations of the Party leadership, absorbs the rational core of ＂people-based＂ ideas in traditional Chinese culture; its practical basis stems from the rich personal experiences of General Secretary Xi Jinping and lies in learning from lessons of foreign ruling parties in response to the new demands created by the evolution of principal contradiction facing Chinese society in the new era. Its basic structure, featuring six aspects of this approach, i.e. principles, principal status, purpose,methodology, goal, and motivation, constitutes an integral part of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
