On the Values and Ethics of the Chinese Journalism: From the Perspective of the Mass Line

改革开放以来,中国新闻媒体实行"事业单位、企业化管理"双轨制,尽管取得了有目共睹的功利效能,但新闻传播价值伦理失范现象时有发生。坚持党的群众路线,社会主义媒体就应遵循"群众路线"、"群众办报"与"社会效益优先"的新闻传播伦理。在服务谁的目的论上恪守"群众办报"价值理念,在题材整体取向上坚持正面新闻报道为主,在消遣功能实践上追求寓健康思想于娱乐性之中。

The press in China have played notable efficacy since the adoption of a ＂dual-track＂ system, that is, they are ＂public institutions that run as commercial enterprises＂. However, cases of misconduct that breach the press ethics and values are commonplace. To adhere to the mass line of the Party, the socialist media should pursue the professional ethics of the ＂mass line＂, ＂running newspapers for the people＂, and ＂giving priority to social effect＂. The socialist media should hold onto the values of ＂running newspapers for the people＂ in terms of ＂purpose of the service＂, give mainly positive coverage in terms of the overall theme orientation, and contain sound and instructive contents in entertainment in performing its entertaining functions.
