清水河县下塔石城内城墙发掘简报

The Excavation of the Inner City Wall of Xiata Stone City, Qingshuihe County

2004-2005年,内蒙古文物考古研究所对清水河县下塔石城内外城垣及墙体附属设施、城内皆进行了试掘,发现该城不仅存在内外两道城垣,还附属有马面、城门、角楼、瓮城等设施,是目前北方地区最早的城墙防御体系,为探讨河套地区乃至整个北方地区的城市建制提供了珍贵的实证。

The Stone City of Xiata, located in Qingshuihe County, Inner Mongolia, was found in the. regional archaeological storey, which were carriest out in the lower teaches of Hunhe River in order to cooperate with the major project of the state administration of cultural heritage, ＂the archaeological study on human culture, life and environment from pre-Qin to Han Dynasties in the Hetao area＂, during the period of 2004-2005.After the two years＇ excavation the Inner Mongolia Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology conducted a trial excavation of the inner and outerwalls, the subsidiary facilities of the, wall, and the. dty. It could be concluded that the city not only has the, inner and outer walls, but also the facilitiessuch as the horse face, the city gate, the comer tower and Weng city, etc. It was the earliest known city wall defense system in the northem area at present,providing a particularly valuable demonstration for expliring the urban construction system of the Hetao area and even the northem area.
