University-community engagement is a new framework of social service from America state universities in the age of globalization. The connotation of university- community engagement emphasizes social weal and democracy. Its practical activities include integrating curricula into community experience, driving entrepreneurial economy, building interactive cooperation relationship and promoting social democracy. The key features are scholarly, integrated, reciprocal and mutually beneficial, publicity. The new frame- work has been a significant guide and extended its influence. There are some implications for higher institutions in China, such as focusing on regional needs, taking more attention to academic guidance and public welfare, expending development spaces.
