英语学习者异议语力修饰语研究

A Study of Chinese EFL Learners' Pragmatic Force Modifiers in Disagreement

摘要 本研究从默认—框架礼貌视角出发,采用语料库的研究方法,考察我国英语学习者多人讨论场景下的异议语力修饰语(包括缓和语和增强语)使用情况,并通过参照英语本族语者语料讨论我国英语学习者的语用能力。学习者语料选自自建英语专业学生多人讨论语料库,英语本族语者语料选自BNC电视讨论语料库。结果发现,在多人讨论场景下我国英语学习者异议语力修饰语的使用与本族语者相比有显著差异,我国英语学习者总体倾向于多用缓和语而少用增强语,异议语力趋向缓和,论辩力度欠缺。本研究对提升二语语用能力具有启示意义。 This corpus-based study,adopting the frame-based approach to politeness,examines the use of pragmatic force modifiers(including hedges and boosters) in disagreements by Chinese EFL learners,and by a comparison with native speakers,this study further discusses the pragmatic competence of Chinese EFL learners.Learner data were collected during multi-party discussions by English majors and the baseline data were drawn from television discussions in British National Corpus(BNC).Results showed that Chinese EFL learners used hedges more frequently and boosters less frequently than native speakers,resulting in a generally weakened pragmatic force of disagreement and the persuasiveness of arguments.This study provides implications for the improvement of L2 pragmatic competence.
