The Competence Framework for Teachers of Foreign Language Majors in Line with China National Teaching Quality Standards for Foreign Language Majors at the Bachelor’s Level

摘要 本文基于对《高等学校外语类专业本科教学质量国家标准》(以下简称《国标》)的深入解读和有关教师能力的国内外文献研究,在外语界首次提出高校"外语类专业教师能力框架",包括职业道德、教学能力、研究能力和学科知识。本文认为,外语类专业教师不应等同于外语教师。学术界应超越从国外移植的外语教师能力框架体系,探索外语类专业教师的研究能力构成与发展路径以及学科知识结构的搭建,在理论上构建适应我国高校外国语言文学学科发展的外语类专业教师能力框架。在实践层面,高校外语类专业应在新的教师能力框架下重新认识外语类专业教师的身份与发展定位,创新教师发展的内容与形式,重构教师学科知识,提升教师研究能力。在教学能力方面,外语类专业要引导教师更新教育教学理念,积极探索语言与学科知识融合教学、跨文化外语教学和思辨外语教学的新路径和新方法。 Based on a comprehensive interpretation of China National Teaching Quality Standards for Foreign Language Majors at the Bachelor's Level and an in-depth review of related literature on language teacher competence, this paper proposes a Competence Framework for Teachers of Foreign Language Majors, which includes professional ethics, teaching competence, research competence and disciplinary knowledge. Teachers of foreign language majors are not the same group of teachers of foreign languages. From a theoretical perspective, Chinese academia should transcend the competence frameworks for foreign language teachers imported from the West, and investigate the research competence components and its development as well as the building of disciplinary knowledge structure for teachers of foreign language majors in the Chinese higher education context. For this purpose, the academia is expected to formulate the Competence Framework for Teachers of Foreign Language Majors, which is intended to facilitate the upgrading of foreign languages and literature discipline in Chinese universities. In practice, foreign language departments or schools should redefine the identity and professional development of teachers of foreign language majors, innovate the content and form of teacher development, and concentrate their efforts on enhancing teachers' disciplinary knowledge and research competence under the new Competence Framework for Teachers of Foreign Language Majors. Meanwhile, in terms of teaching competence, departments a n d schools of foreign language majors should motivate teachers toupdate the direducational philosophy and explore new ways of integrating foreign language teaching with disciplinary teaching, intercultural teaching as well as critical thinking teaching.
