摘要
本文从盖茨的喻指理论中的文本喻指入手,对莫里森《秀拉》和伍尔夫《达洛维夫人》进行互文性文本分析,旨在探讨莫里森在男性角色的创设上对伍尔夫《达洛维夫人》的重复与改写,通过解读前者对后者的继承性喻指和改写性喻指,从而更深层次地探索莫里森笔下的黑人民族对待死亡的态度及其生存的智慧。
This essay conducts an intertextual study on Virginia Woolf’s Mrs.Dalloway and Toni Morrison’s Sula by employing the theory of Signifyin(g)of Henry Louis Gates, Jr, with the aim to explore how Morrison repeats and revises the male character in Mrs.Dalloway.The inherited textual Signifyin(g) and the revised textual Signifyin(g) of Sula to Mrs. Dalloway are analyzed to further reflect the black people’s attitude toward death and their wisdom of existence in Morrison’s novel.
