“人间佛教”与大学生的“生命教育”——从大学生的自杀说起

生命教育是佛教教育的一个重要面向。作为当代一种重要的佛教形态,＂人间佛教＂,尤其是星云大师所开创的台湾佛光山的＂人间佛教＂,在生命教育方面有着丰富的理论和实践,为有效解决当代人所面临的生命困惑提供了宝贵的经验。面对当代大有愈演愈烈之势的大学生自杀问题,＂人间佛教＂理应在大学生生命教育领域有所作为,也能够有所作为。大学生自杀的原因固然是多方面的,但他们对生命本身究竟为何缺乏正确的了解却是问题的症结所在。＂人间佛教＂应该帮助大学生了解生命的＂空性＂见,从而激发生命的正能量,帮助他们度过生命的灰暗期,重新树立生活的信心。

Life education is one of the important elements in Buddhism. As the main trend in today＇s Buddhism development,Humanistic Buddhism,especially the Humanistic Buddhism advocated in Foguangshan Temple,founded by Venerable Hsing Yun in 1966,is unique in theory and rich in practice when it comes to life education and has provided valuable experiences in helping modern people get over their confusion about life. Now adays,the phenomenon that college students commit suicide is getting worse. Humanistic Buddhism should and is capable of playing an active role in dealing with this phenomenon. The reasons for college students＇committing suicide are various,but the crux of this problem is that those students lack proper understanding of the meaning of life.Humanistic Buddhism should help college students have a better understanding of life＇s sunyata,the nature of life,so as to inspire their positive awareness of life,encourage them to go through the dark days bravely and build up confidence in life.
