为更深刻地理解美国现实主义文学的多样性,通过参照比较文学主题学的相关方法,比较分析《贵妇人的肖像》和《哈克贝利·费恩历险记》共同的主题——追求平等。从写作主题、主人公语言风格和创作方法三个层面上,归纳出亨利·詹姆斯和马克·吐温两者的创作有着天然的分工又彼此相辅相成。

With a purpose to explore the diversity of American literary Realism,this paper compares the common motif,pursuit of equality in The Portrait of a Lady and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn from the angle of thematology of comparative literature.After analyzing the theme,the protagonists＇ language,and the two authors＇ writing techniques,the paper suggests that Henry James and Mark Twain have a natural division of labor and complement each other in their works.
