Print Revolution and Skepticism in Shakespeare's Plays

莎士比亚所处的时代是科学技术蓬勃发展的时代,印刷术、火药、航海术等领域的发展为英国从封建社会走向资本主义社会奠定了基础。而其中最重要的无疑是印刷术,莎士比亚戏剧中几乎每部作品都含有与印刷术相关的指涉,本文拟分析其戏剧中的角色对于印刷术的态度,指出莎士比亚对这一新技术的适度的怀疑主义。

The age of Shakespeare is the blooming age of scientific technologies such as printing,gunpowder,navigational technology etc. Obviously,the most important one is printing. This paper aims to investigate Shakespeare＇s relationship to the print revolution by contextualizing what Shakespeare＇s characters have to say about print technology itself,and point out a healthy skepticism about print technology.
